General Manager – Restaurant

Compensation: $90,000 - $95,000/year

Bonus Eligibility: Annual performance-based bonus 10%-20%

Certifications: IL BASSET, IL Food Handler or Manager, Allergan Certification




Role Overview:

The General Manager will oversee daily operations, financial performance, and team management for an upscale dining restaurant, and private functions. This role includes guest engagement, staff development, and operational excellence while serving as a brand ambassador.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations, including pre-shift meetings and staff scheduling.
  • Develop and execute marketing and community outreach plans.
  • Ensure food quality, service consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Manage budgets, P&L, and cost controls (e.g., liquor, labor).
  • Oversee hiring, training, and performance management.
  • Plan and execute special events (e.g., wine dinners, cooking classes).
  • Maintain safety standards and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Update SOPs and implement operational systems (e.g., POS, inventory).
  • Address guest complaints and resolve issues promptly.


Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • IL BASSET, IL Food Handler, Allergan Certification (required).
  • ServSafe Food Manager Certification (preferred).

Experience:

  • 5+ years as a General Manager in upscale dining.
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits, and service leadership.
  • Experience with Micros Simphony (preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Financial acumen (budgeting, P&L analysis).
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand/walk for up to 8 hours/day.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly.
