We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead the team at our 60-80 room select-service property. This is a unique opportunity to take full ownership of hotel operations, from revenue strategy to team development, and make a measurable impact on our continued growth.
Position Overview
As the General Manager, you will serve as the primary leader and strategic business partner for our select-service hotel. You will be responsible for the overall success of the property, overseeing all aspects of operations, including guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and limited food and beverage offerings. Your leadership will ensure the hotel achieves its financial goals, maintains brand compliance, and delivers outstanding guest satisfaction. You are the cultural architect of the property, embodying a hands-on approach to leadership and fostering an environment of excellence and empowerment.
Core Responsibilities
Financial & Revenue Management
- Take complete ownership of the hotel's Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, driving both top-line revenue and bottom-line profitability.
- Develop and execute dynamic revenue management strategies, including rate positioning and inventory management, to maximize ADR and achieve a RevPAR index above 100%.
- Manage relationships and inventory across all Online Travel Agencies (OTAs) and third-party channels.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget, monthly forecasts, and capital expenditure plans.
- Control operational expenses and labor costs through effective scheduling, purchasing, and resource management.
Operations & Guest Experience Leadership
- Direct and oversee all hotel departments, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Maintenance, to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
- Champion a superior guest experience, actively monitoring and responding to feedback from Guest Satisfaction Surveys (GSS), Medallia, ReviewPro, and online travel sites.
- Ensure strict adherence to all brand standards, leading the team to consistently achieve high scores on Quality Assurance (QA) audits.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for all guests and associates, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Manage vendor relationships and service contracts to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
People & Culture Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of hospitality professionals.
- Cultivate a positive and supportive service culture where associates feel valued, engaged, and empowered to excel.
- Develop staffing schedules that align with business demands and labor budgets.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing coaching and feedback to support associate development and growth.
Sales & Marketing Partnership
- Collaborate with the sales team to drive local and corporate sales initiatives.
- Act as a community ambassador for the hotel, building relationships with local businesses and key accounts.
- Monitor market trends, competitive set performance, and economic conditions to identify new revenue opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Average Daily Rate (ADR) & Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) Index
- Gross Operating Profit (GOP) & Flow-Through
- Labor Cost Percentage & Overall Expense Control
- Guest Satisfaction Scores (GSS, Medallia, TripAdvisor, etc.)
- Brand Quality Assurance (QA) Scores
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in hotel operations, with a proven track record as an Assistant General Manager or General Manager in a select-service environment (Best Western, IHG, Choice brands preferred).
- High proficiency with brand-specific Property Management Systems (PMS) like Opera, as well as associated POS and Revenue Management Systems (RMS).
- Demonstrated expertise in hotel financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to meet the demands of a 24/7 operation.
