Job Description
Field Training Manager - Restaurant Operations & NSO Specialist
Gecko Hospitality
Boston, MA
About Us
Since 1995, We have set the standard for authentic Mexican cuisine in Boston. We serve the city's best tacos, burritos, bowls, and quesadillas, prepared fresh daily in our kitchens. Our vibrant culture is built on a passion for quality ingredients, efficiency, and genuine hospitality. As we continue to expand our footprint, we are seeking a seasoned operational leader to ensure our standards of excellence scale with us.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Field Training Manager to drive operational consistency and lead our New Store Opening (NSO) initiatives. This is a critical leadership role for a hospitality professional who understands the mechanics of high-volume restaurant operations. You will be the architect behind our training infrastructure, ensuring that every team member—from the prep line to the front counter—is equipped to deliver the Gecko Hospitality experience.
This role requires a bilingual leader (English/Spanish) with a proven track record of launching successful restaurant locations and developing high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead New Store Openings (NSO): Manage the end-to-end training and operational setup for all new location launches. You will coordinate logistics, oversee pre-opening training, and ensure successful "Go Live" execution.
- Curate Training Curriculum: Design, implement, and update comprehensive training programs for Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) staff, ensuring alignment with company SOPs and food safety regulations.
- Field Coaching & Development: Spend significant time in the field conducting hands-on coaching sessions. You will identify performance gaps and implement targeted solutions to improve speed of service and product quality.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Partner with Operations, HR, and Culinary teams to standardize best practices and roll out new menu items or operational procedures across all units.
- Performance Metrics: Monitor training effectiveness through KPIs, turnover rates, and guest satisfaction scores, adjusting strategies to optimize workforce retention and performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of training or operations management experience in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
- NSO Expertise: Demonstrated success in opening new restaurant locations is mandatory. You must know the NSO playbook inside and out.
- Bilingual Fluency: Must be fully fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with our diverse workforce.
- Operational Knowledge: Deep understanding of high-volume food service operations, inventory control, and labor management.
- Leadership Style: A "boots on the ground" leader who prefers coaching in the restaurant over sitting in an office.
Why Join us?
- Competitive Compensation: We offer a salary commensurate with experience, recognizing the value of top-tier talent.
- Impact: Play a pivotal role in the growth strategy of a beloved Boston institution.
- Culture: Join a team that values hard work, authenticity, and a passion for great food.
- Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and paid time off.
How to Apply
If you are a results-oriented training professional ready to lead our expansion efforts, we want to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter detailing your experience with new store openings.
