General Manager – Upscale Casual Gastropub

Location: Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA

Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 annually + Bonus Potential

Position Overview

As General Manager, you’ll own the day-to-day operations and long-term success of the restaurant. You’ll lead from the front, developing a strong team culture while driving financial performance, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who lives for hospitality and knows how to elevate both the guest experience and the bottom line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development: Hire, train, mentor, and retain a team of FOH and BOH managers, supervisors, and hourly staff. Foster a positive, accountable, and hospitality-driven culture
  • Operations: Oversee all aspects of daily operations including service, kitchen execution, bar program, and facilities. Ensure health, safety, and liquor code compliance
  • Financial Management: Own P&L responsibility. Manage budgets, labor, COGS, and controllable expenses to hit revenue and profit targets. Analyze sales trends and implement strategies to grow the business
  • Guest Experience: Maintain an active presence on the floor during peak periods. Handle guest relations and ensure every visit reflects our brand standards
  • Beverage & Culinary Collaboration: Partner with Chef and Bar Manager to execute menus, manage inventory, control waste, and drive creativity in food and beverage programming
  • Community Engagement: Represent the restaurant in the Manayunk community. Build relationships with local businesses and guests to drive repeat visits and private events

Qualifications

  • Required: Minimum 3 years of experience as a General Manager in a full-service restaurant
  • Preferred: Experience in upscale casual, gastropub, craft cocktail, or high-volume dining concepts
  • Strong working knowledge of restaurant financials, scheduling, inventory, and POS systems
  • Proven track record of developing teams, reducing turnover, and building bench strength
  • Passion for hospitality, craft food/beverage, and creating memorable guest experiences
  • ServSafe Manager, RAMP/PLCB certification, or ability to obtain
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands
