We are seeking a talented Sous Chef for a busy, well-established upscale casual restaurant known for great food, strong hospitality, and a loyal local following. This is an excellent opportunity for a culinary leader who enjoys working in a high-volume kitchen, developing people, maintaining consistency, and being part of a respected restaurant group. The ideal candidate will have strong back-of-house leadership experience, a hands-on approach, and the ability to support daily kitchen operations while helping maintain high standards for food quality, execution, cleanliness, and team performance. This role is a great fit for someone who takes pride in scratch cooking, kitchen organization, and leading a team through busy service periods.


Sous Chef Responsibilities

  • Support daily back-of-house operations in a high-volume restaurant environment
  • Lead, coach, and develop cooks, prep team members, and dish staff
  • Ensure consistent food quality, plate presentation, ticket times, and recipe execution
  • Assist with ordering, inventory, prep planning, and product rotation
  • Monitor food cost, waste, portion control, and other controllable costs
  • Maintain high standards for cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
  • Help create a positive, organized, and accountable kitchen culture
  • Partner with the Executive Chef and management team to drive operational results
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing team development


Sous Chef Qualifications

  • 2+ years of kitchen leadership experience preferred
  • Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Assistant Kitchen Manager, or lead line cook experience considered
  • Strong understanding of scratch kitchen operations, prep systems, and high-volume execution
  • Ability to lead from the line and support the team during peak volume
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, inventory, ordering, and cost controls
  • Stable work history and a genuine passion for food, hospitality, and team development
