Job Description

Dining Room Manager- Hotel

Location: Downtown Chicago

Salary: $70K - $80K + Bonus Potential

Position Overview

A landmark hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago is seeking a Dining Room Manager to lead the front of house with poise, precision, and presence. This is a flagship property where the dining room sets the tone for the entire guest experience, and the person who runs it shapes how thousands of guests remember their stay.

You'll oversee a high-volume, refined dining operation surrounded by the energy of the city, working with a team that takes pride in getting the details right. If you've built your career in upscale or fine dining and you're ready for a role where your leadership directly influences the property's reputation, this is worth a closer look.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead dining room operations. Manage the daily flow of service, from pre-shift preparation through close, ensuring smooth, seamless execution during peak hours and quiet moments alike.
  • Develop the front-of-house team. Hire, train, coach, and mentor servers, hosts, and support staff. Build a team that's consistent, motivated, and proud of the standard they uphold.
  • Own the guest experience. Anticipate guest needs, resolve concerns with discretion and grace, and create the kind of hospitality that earns repeat visits and strong word of mouth.
  • Uphold service standards. Hold the room to a high, consistent bar every shift. Reinforce the steps of service, presentation, and pacing that define an upscale dining experience.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and F&B team. Partner closely with culinary leadership and beverage staff to align timing, quality, and communication between the floor and the kitchen.
  • Manage the business side. Track labor, monitor inventory, support scheduling, and contribute to revenue and cost goals without ever compromising the guest experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of front-of-house management experience in upscale, fine dining, or luxury hospitality environments.
  • A track record of leading and developing high-performing service teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the emotional intelligence to read a room, manage personalities, and stay composed under pressure.
  • Sound judgment around guest dynamics, team morale, and the small decisions that add up to great service.
  • Working knowledge of service standards, wine and beverage programs, and front-of-house systems.
  • The drive to keep raising the bar, paired with the humility to put the team first.

Why Join Us

The right leader changes how an operation runs. We know that, and we hire accordingly.

This is a property where service is taken seriously and leadership is given real room to make an impact. You'll work alongside a culinary and F&B team that respects the floor, in a culture built on accountability, mentorship, and pride in the work. We invest in our people, support clear paths for career growth, and recognize that the strongest dining rooms are run by leaders who lead by example.

We're looking for someone humble enough to listen, hungry enough to keep improving, and steady enough to guide a team through any night. If that sounds like you, the dining room is yours to lead.

Apply

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a resume detailing their experience in upscale dining leadership. All inquiries will be handled professionally and in confidence.
