Job Description
General Manager – New Restaurant Opening
Full-Time | Salaried | Performance Bonus Opportunity
Help Us Build Something from the Beginning
Our company is coming to College Station, bringing fresh-baked sourdough sandwiches, soups, salads and flatbreads to Aggieland.
We are looking for an experienced, people-focused General Manager to help launch our first local restaurant and build a team and culture we can be proud of.
This is more than a position managing an established restaurant. Our General Manager will work directly with local ownership to help recruit and develop the opening team, establish strong operating systems, create an exceptional guest experience, and build the foundation for future growth.
Our goal is simple: Fresh Bread. Warm Welcome. Strong People.
We want to serve great food and create a restaurant where guests feel welcome, employees enjoy coming to work, and young team members have the opportunity to learn, grow and become leaders.
The Opportunity
You will take primary responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the restaurant while working closely with ownership
As our business grows, an exceptional General Manager will have the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and potentially develop into a multi-unit leadership role overseeing additional Sourdough & Co. locations.
We’re looking for someone who wants to help build that future with us.
What You’ll Lead
People & Culture
- Recruit, hire, train, coach and develop a strong restaurant team
- Create a positive, accountable and respectful workplace
- Develop employees and identify future shift leaders and managers
- Build schedules and deploy the team effectively
- Lead by example during busy restaurant operations
- Resolve employee concerns professionally and constructively
Guest Experience
- Create a consistently welcoming experience for every guest
- Maintain high standards for food quality, speed, service and cleanliness
- Resolve guest concerns thoughtfully and professionally
- Help make Sourdough & Co. an active and positive part of the Bryan–College Station community
Restaurant Operations
- Oversee daily restaurant operations, including prep, cashier, sandwich making, bread station and other operating positions
- Maintain food safety, product freshness, labeling, rotation and storage standards
- Manage inventory and ordering to minimize shortages and waste
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe restaurant
- Ensure proper use and care of restaurant equipment
- Implement Sourdough & Co. operating standards, policies and procedures
Business Performance
- Take ownership of restaurant sales and operating performance
- Manage labor, food cost, inventory and other controllable expenses
- Review financial and operating results with ownership
- Help establish budgets and performance goals
- Identify opportunities to improve sales, profitability and guest traffic
- Execute local and corporate promotional programs
Who We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has restaurant management experience, preferably in fast-casual, quick-service or another high-volume restaurant environment
- Has successfully hired, trained and developed employees
- Understands restaurant operations, labor management, inventory and food cost
- Is comfortable being both a leader and a hands-on member of the team
- Communicates clearly and handles difficult situations calmly
- Sets high standards while treating people with respect
- Enjoys developing younger employees and future leaders
- Is organized, dependable and accountable
- Has a genuine passion for food, service and people
- Wants an opportunity to grow as the business grows
Experience opening a new restaurant is a plus, but it is not required.
Compensation & Growth
This is a full-time salaried General Manager position with compensation based on experience.
The position will also include an incentive bonus program tied to restaurant and leadership performance.
We believe strong performance should create greater opportunity.
Why Join Us Now?
Most restaurant managers step into systems someone else has already created.
Here, you’ll have the opportunity to help build the team, culture and operating rhythm from the beginning—and then help us make it better.
If you’re an experienced restaurant leader who cares about people, takes ownership of results, and wants the opportunity to build something rather than simply maintain it, we’d love to meet you.
