General Manager – Restaurant Operations
Clayton, Missouri | $75,000–$85,000 + Quarterly Bonus Potential
A successful and growing restaurant group is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a high-volume, full-service restaurant in Clayton, Missouri. This location currently offers significant upside for a strong operator who can improve staffing stability, develop local partnerships, and capitalize on several underdeveloped revenue opportunities. This is an ideal opportunity for a GM who enjoys taking ownership of a business, developing people, solving operational challenges, and driving measurable sales and profit growth.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Lead all day-to-day restaurant operations while maintaining high standards for hospitality, food quality, cleanliness, and execution
- Recruit, train, develop, and retain a strong hourly and management team
- Improve staffing stability and build a culture where employees want to stay and grow
- Develop managers and establish stronger bench strength throughout the restaurant
- Drive sales growth through local store marketing, hotel relationships, private events, and community involvement
- Grow private dining and banquet revenue through proactive sales efforts and exceptional event execution
- Analyze restaurant sales trends and identify opportunities to increase traffic and average sales
- Manage the restaurant P&L, including food cost, labor, controllables, and overall profitability
- Lead from the floor during peak periods and maintain a strong presence with both employees and guests
- Handle employee relations, operational challenges, guest issues, and outside business matters professionally and independently
- Partner with company leadership while taking full ownership of restaurant-level decisions and execution
What We’re Looking For
We are specifically looking for a seasoned General Manager who has worked within a structured restaurant organization or established multi-unit company. The ideal candidate will have experience operating within systems, policies, HR procedures, financial controls, and established company standards. This role requires someone who is comfortable handling employee relations matters, guest situations, vendor issues, operational challenges, and other situations that may arise without relying on ownership to manage those responsibilities.
Additional qualifications include:
- 3+ years of successful General Manager experience
- Experience with a recognized corporate, franchise, or multi-unit restaurant organization strongly preferred
- Proven success managing a high-volume restaurant operation
- Strong P&L knowledge with the ability to understand and improve restaurant financial performance
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain hourly employees
- Experience developing Assistant Managers and future General Managers
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to independently handle employee relations and operational issues
- Track record of improving sales, profitability, guest satisfaction, and team performance
- Sales-minded approach with an interest in community outreach and business development
- Strong leadership presence and willingness to be highly visible in the restaurant
Compensation & Bonus
Base Salary: $75,000–$85,000, based on experience.
The company also offers a strong quarterly bonus program tied to P&L performance and sales growth. Successful General Managers have the ability to earn significant additional compensation, with bonuses potentially reaching approximately $15,000 based on performance. There is also an additional sales-growth component within the GM bonus structure, creating meaningful upside for a leader who can grow the business.
Benefits & Schedule
- Medical insurance
- Dental and vision coverage available
- 401(k) with 5% company match after the first year
- Five-day workweek
- One week of PTO during the first two years, two weeks after three years
The Opportunity
This location already generates strong volume, but it has the potential to do considerably more, demonstrating the opportunity available to the right leader.
The company is looking for more than someone who can simply maintain the operation. They want a General Manager who can build a stable team, grow sales, improve profitability, develop leaders, and take ownership of the business. If you are an experienced restaurant General Manager who enjoys developing people and sees opportunity when there is room to grow, this could be an excellent next step.
