About the Opportunity
An established full-service restaurant and bar in San Jose, CA is seeking a Restaurant General Manager to own unit performance. The GM is accountable for guest experience, sales growth, four-wall profitability, talent, and brand standards across dining room, bar, and kitchen. Compensation of $105,000–$110,000 is for a proven operator who can lead a high-volume South Bay restaurant with discipline and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
• Own full restaurant P&L: sales, labor, food cost, beverage cost, controllable expenses, and flow-through.
• Set the service and culinary standard; be a visible leader on the floor and in the kitchen during peak periods.
• Build and develop the management bench (AGM, Floor Manager, Kitchen Manager) and hourly teams.
• Lead recruiting, training, performance management, and retention for a full-service restaurant and bar staff.
• Protect guest experience, online reputation, private dining or large-party execution, and community presence.
• Partner with culinary leadership on menu execution, quality, cost, and consistency.
• Ensure compliance with California employment, tip, alcohol, safety, and health regulations; keep the restaurant audit-ready.
• Produce accurate reporting, forecasts, and action plans for ownership or regional leadership.
• Drive local marketing, local partnerships, and incremental revenue without compromising service standards.
Qualifications
• 4–6+ years of progressive restaurant management, including at least 2 years as General Manager or equivalent unit leader in a high-volume, full-service restaurant with bar operations.
• Documented success managing a restaurant P&L and hitting sales, labor, and cost targets.
• Ability to lead both FOH and BOH through managers; strong hiring and coaching track record.
• Financial literacy: weekly flash, inventory, labor matrices, and variance analysis.
• Must work on-site in San Jose, CA, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• ServSafe Manager and RBS preferred; must meet all California age and alcohol-service requirements.
