About the Opportunity

An established full-service restaurant and bar in the East Bay is seeking a Kitchen Manager in Pleasant Hill, CA. This Back of House leadership role owns culinary execution, kitchen labor, food cost, sanitation, and team development. Compensation of $110,000–$120,000 reflects the scope of a high-volume restaurant kitchen that must deliver consistent quality at pace.


Key Responsibilities

•      Direct all daily kitchen operations: prep, line execution, plating standards, ticket times, and closing procedures.

•      Lead, schedule, train, and retain cooks, prep staff, dishwashers, and other BOH team members.

•      Control food cost, waste, portioning, and inventory; complete ordering, receiving, and vendor management.

•      Maintain menu consistency and quality while supporting specials, seasonal items, and high-volume service.

•      Enforce ServSafe, HACCP, and Contra Costa County health-department standards; keep the kitchen inspection-ready.

•      Partner with Front of House and restaurant leadership on 86s, large parties, timing, and guest recovery related to food.

•      Oversee equipment maintenance, kitchen cleanliness, and safe knife and station practices.

•      Report kitchen KPIs (food cost, labor, waste, ticket times) and recommend operational improvements.


Qualifications

•      3–5+ years as Kitchen Manager, Executive Kitchen Manager, Chef de Cuisine, or Sous Chef in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.

•      Demonstrated success managing food cost, labor, inventory, and a multi-station line.

•      Hands-on leadership style; willing to cook on the line when volume or staffing requires it.

•      ServSafe Manager certification preferred; strong working knowledge of California food-safety regulations.

•      Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand and walk throughout long kitchen shifts.

•      Must work on-site in Pleasant Hill, CA, including peak dinner periods, weekends, and holidays.
