About the role
We are seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to lead the engineering team at a luxury hotel in Nashville. You will keep guest rooms, public spaces, and building systems performing to a luxury standard, with equipment uptime that supports uninterrupted stays and events. You will partner daily with Rooms Division, Culinary, Events, and more.
Responsibilities
- Lead a multi-trade engineering team, setting clear standards and coaching technicians, with a succession plan for key trades
- Move the department from reactive repairs to a preventive maintenance program that reduces repeat work orders and extends asset life
- Manage the maintenance operating budget and a defined capital plan
- Deliver capital and renovation projects on schedule and within budget, with minimal disruption to guests
- Oversee building automation and life-safety systems
- Keep the property inspection-ready across life safety, codes, and brand standards, closing issues before they become incidents
- Manage vendor contracts and parts so response times, quality, and cost stay aligned with the guest experience
- Lead response to guest recoveries and after-hours equipment failures
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience leading a hotel or comparable hospitality engineering team, with results you can describe in uptime, cost, and guest impact
- Hands-on knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and building controls in a full-service property
- Track record of preventive maintenance programs and capital projects completed on time, on budget, and with guests in house
- Working fluency with a CMMS
- Relevant licensure or technical credentials
- Ability to brief executives and coach technicians with equal clarity
