Sous Chef | Red Bank, NJ | up to $75,000

An energetic and high-quality upscale restaurant in Red Bank, NJ is looking for a Sous Chef to support daily kitchen leadership and help drive culinary excellence. This position is ideal for a motivated chef who enjoys being actively involved in service, coaching line cooks, and maintaining high standards in a fast-paced environment.

The right candidate will bring a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and a passion for hospitality and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily kitchen operations and service execution
Supervise and support line cooks, prep cooks, and culinary staff
Ensure all dishes are executed consistently and according to standards
Help train and mentor team members while promoting accountability
Monitor prep levels, inventory, ordering, and product quality
Support labor and food cost management initiatives
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
Assist with menu rollouts, specials, and seasonal updates
Lead the kitchen in the Executive Chef’s absence

Qualifications

Previous Sous Chef or kitchen management experience in upscale dining
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to multitask and lead effectively during busy services
Passion for food quality, hospitality, and team development
Strong understanding of kitchen systems, prep organization, and sanitation
Positive attitude and hands-on leadership approach
Experience working in scratch kitchens preferred
ServSafe certification preferred
