About the Opportunity

An established full-service restaurant and bar in San Jose, CA is hiring an Assistant General Manager. The Restaurant AGM partners with the General Manager to run daily operations across Front of House and Back of House, protect the guest experience, develop managers and hourly talent, and hit sales, labor, and cost targets. This is a career-track hospitality leadership role in a high-volume South Bay restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

•      Assist the General Manager in leading all restaurant operations: service, bar, kitchen coordination, facilities, and administration.

•      Run opening, mid, or closing shifts as Manager on Duty; serve as acting GM when assigned.

•      Recruit, interview, onboard, schedule, coach, and retain FOH and support staff; support BOH staffing in partnership with kitchen leadership.

•      Drive guest satisfaction through floor presence, table visits, reservation management, and professional recovery.

•      Help manage P&L levers: sales mix, labor deployment, food and beverage cost, waste, and controllable expenses.

•      Ensure compliance with California labor law, tip reporting, cash handling, RBS, and health-department requirements.

•      Train the team on menu, beverage, steps of service, and brand standards; run effective pre-shift meetings.

•      Analyze daily and weekly reports and implement action plans that improve speed of service, reviews, and profitability.

Qualifications

•      2–4+ years of restaurant management experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant; prior AGM, Floor Manager, or Restaurant Manager experience preferred.

•      Comfortable leading both guest-facing service and operational systems (scheduling, inventory support, cash, reporting).

•      Strong coaching skills and a hands-on, lead-from-the-floor management style.

•      Proficiency with restaurant POS, scheduling, and reservation systems.

•      Must be 21 or older and available for nights, weekends, and holidays on-site in San Jose.

•      Food Handler and RBS certification, or ability to obtain promptly; ServSafe Manager a plus.
