Job Description

Catering Sales Manager

Great events start with a promise a host can trust. You will turn inquiries across Greater Houston into weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations that guests remember for the food. You own the relationship, the number, and the handoff that lets the kitchen and service team deliver exactly what was sold.

Performance Objectives

  • Grow catering revenue by converting qualified leads into booked events that meet margin and guest-count targets.
  • Build a steady pipeline of corporate, social, and repeat clients so monthly bookings stay predictable.
  • Write proposals clients approve with minimal revision: menus, pricing, staffing, and timelines in one clear offer.
  • Close contracts with deposits and signed details early enough for production to execute without a scramble.
  • Lift average event value through fitting upsells—bar service, staffing, rentals, and menu upgrades—without overpromising.
  • Make referrals and rebooks a measurable share of new business by keeping post-event satisfaction high.
  • Hand every confirmed event to operations with a complete banquet event order so food, timing, and service match the sale.

Environment & Resources

You report to ownership and work daily with culinary, event captains, and a small sales-support bench. You will use a CRM, a tasting calendar, standard menus and packages, and pricing authority within published guidelines. Expect a mix of site visits, tastings, and desk work across Greater Houston, including some evenings when events require it.

Essential Qualifications

  • A catering or hospitality sales record in which you personally booked and closed events.
  • Skill building proposals, contracts, and banquet event orders a kitchen can execute.
  • Ability to manage a pipeline and explain win rate, average event value, and why business was lost.
  • A confident presence at tastings and site visits, with judgment to match the menu to the room.
  • Houston-area relationships, or a concrete plan to build corporate and social accounts quickly.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to meet clients on their schedule.

Role Selling Points

  • A 40-year family catering kitchen known for food that earns the reaction, not a menu still being invented.
  • A direct line to owners—your bookings shape the calendar.
  • Full-service events, so you sell experiences, not drop-off trays alone.
  • Room to own the book of business in a large, event-heavy metro.

If you can fill a calendar with events people remember, apply now. Include your resume and two events you sold: what you promised, what was delivered, and the result.
