Salary: $80K - $90K++

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned, go-getter Hotel Catering Sales Manager to lead our catering and event sales initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives on proactive outreach—including cold calling and engaging leads early in the decision-making process. You will take full ownership of the catering sales department, driving revenue growth while creating outstanding event experiences for our clients. As the primary point of contact for corporate meetings, weddings, and social gatherings, you’ll ensure every detail aligns with client vision. Market and competition knowledge of Honolulu is highly valued in this role.

If you have a passion for hospitality, a talent for closing deals, and a deep understanding of hotel food and beverage operations, we want you to lead our catering sales efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Catering Sales: Proactively solicit new business through cold calling, networking, community outreach, and targeted sales campaigns. Engage leads early in the buying process and secure corporate, social, and association event bookings to maximize banquet space usage.
  • Achieve Revenue Targets: Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual catering revenue goals.
  • Manage Client Relationships: Act as a trusted advisor to clients from the initial inquiry through the final billing. Conduct property tours, craft customized proposals, and maintain strong post-event follow-up to encourage repeat business.
  • Coordinate with Hotel Operations: Collaborate closely with the culinary, banquet, and front office teams. Create accurate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and lead BEO meetings to ensure every department understands the exact event requirements.
  • Negotiate Contracts: Draft, negotiate, and finalize event contracts, ensuring all terms, pricing, and service expectations align with property standards and profitability goals.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor local competitors and industry trends to keep our pricing, menus, and event offerings fresh and competitive.
  • Local Market Expertise: Possessing in-depth market and competition knowledge of Honolulu is a significant advantage and highly valued.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in hotel catering sales, event management, or a closely related hospitality role.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding personal and team sales quotas within the hospitality industry.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of hotel operations, food and beverage trends, and banquet execution.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in hospitality sales systems (e.g., Delphi, Amadeus, Cvent) and standard office software.

Essential Soft Skills

  • Excellent Communication: You can articulate ideas clearly and persuasively, both in writing and in person.
  • Strong Negotiation: You know how to close a deal that benefits both the client and the hotel, navigating budgets and demands with tact.
  • Leadership Abilities: You inspire confidence in clients and hotel staff, guiding cross-functional teams to execute flawless events.
  • Exceptional Organization: You manage multiple accounts, complex event details, and overlapping timelines without missing a beat.
