Job Qualifications

To be considered for the Sous Chef position in Surprise, AZ, candidates should bring:

Job Responsibilities

As the Sous Chef in Surprise, AZ, you will be at the center of the action — and that is exactly where great culinary leaders want to be. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct support to the Executive Chef across all areas of kitchen operations
  • Managing Back of House team members, food production, and operations.
  • Leading, coaching, counseling, and developing team members — providing consistent feedback, direction, and discipline where needed, including termination recommendations
  • Overseeing ordering and receiving of produce, seafood, and main food orders
  • Conducting daily and bi-weekly inventory with your team to maintain accurate food cost controls
  • Building and managing Back of House schedules to optimize staffing and operational efficiency
  • Driving team development by actively interviewing and hiring BOH team members to meet staffing goals
  • Supervising and participating in butchering and portion control on every shift
  • Creating and maintaining a positive kitchen culture — one where quality food, clean standards, and team accountability are non-negotiable
  • Staying calm and composed in high-pressure situations, setting the tone for the entire kitchen team
