Job Description

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Finance to lead all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and financial operations for a dynamic and growing organization. This executive leadership role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, maintaining strong internal controls, supporting strategic decision-making, and providing accurate financial insight to senior leadership.

 

The ideal candidate is an accomplished finance professional with exceptional accounting expertise, proven leadership skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with day-to-day operational execution. Our Director of Finance will establish a best-in-class finance function that delivers timely, accurate financial reporting, maintains rigorous internal controls, develops high-performing teams, and serves as a trusted strategic partner to executive leadership. This individual will combine operational excellence with forward-thinking financial leadership to support sustainable organizational growth and long-term success.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Accounting Operations

  • Provide leadership and oversight of all accounting and financial operations.
  • Direct the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, fixed assets, and month-end close processes.
  • Ensure timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously strengthen internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets.
  • Maintain audit readiness while coordinating all internal and external audit activities.

 

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Analyze financial performance, profitability, operating expenses, revenue trends, and key business drivers.
  • Deliver meaningful financial reporting and business insights that support informed decision-making.
  • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate financial opportunities, operational performance, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop financial models and reporting tools that improve organizational visibility and planning.

 

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
  • Maintain banking relationships and support treasury operations.
  • Monitor cash flow projections to ensure adequate financial resources for operations.
  • Assist leadership with capital planning, financing initiatives, and major investment analyses.

 

Compliance, Tax & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate tax planning, tax filings, and regulatory compliance with external accounting and tax advisors.
  • Monitor accounting standards and regulatory changes impacting financial operations.
  • Support organizational governance through sound financial practices and risk management.

 

Systems, Technology & Process Improvement

  • Provide oversight of financial, accounting, payroll, and related business systems.
  • Lead system enhancements, integrations, and process automation initiatives.
  • Develop standardized financial procedures and best practices that improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows while improving financial reporting capabilities.

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing accounting and finance team.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability, and professional development plans.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across all departments to support organizational success.

 

Contracts & Financial Administration

  • Review and oversee the financial aspects of contracts, procurement activities, leases, and vendor agreements.
  • Partner with legal counsel and external advisors on finance-related contractual matters.
  • Ensure financial obligations and contractual commitments are properly managed and documented.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience from the hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrated success serving as a Controller, Director of Finance, or senior accounting executive.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting standards, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience leading budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash management functions.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP and accounting software platforms.
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
